Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL2 Data Analyst Actuary on a contract for 12 months.
Position Overview
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Providing statistical, analytical and/or actuarial advice to senior management and Agency’s stakeholders, including insights and recommendations aligned to the Agency’s corporate priorities.
- Development and maintenance of an understanding of business context, goals, and key performance indicators.
- Independently working to oversee and project manage regular, and adhoc reporting, analysis and data management activities as required. This includes establishment and application of quality assurance and governance processes, as well as setting priorities and working efficiently within fixed timeframes.
- Utilising strong problem solving and an ability to connect analysis to real world problems to design statistical and mathematical models that respond to business issues (including interpretations of the client’s legislation and evaluation of policy decisions). This may include monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projections and cost benefit analyses.
- Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) and presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Division and across the Agency on a range of issues, including consistent use of data and reporting and internal/external messaging.
- Oversight and development of less experienced team members.
Criteria
Essential criteria
- The candidate must possess relevant academic qualifications. This may include tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, or other relevant equivalent qualifications.
Desirable criteria
- Experience using SAS and/or R for statistical modelling - for both Monitoring, Analytics and Reporting Specialists (MARS) Team and Outcomes Measurement Team candidates
- Graduate level training in statistical and/or machine learning theory and methodology - Outcomes Measurement Team candidates
- Experience applying statistical and/or machine learning methodology to real world problems - Outcomes Measurement Team candidates
- Experience applying statistical methodology to the analysis of longitudinal data - Outcomes Measurement Team candidates
