Senior Data Engineer, Data Center Systems

Job description

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, information systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or business intelligence roles including SQL proficiency.
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, Scala, and Bash.
  • 5-7+ years of database experience in database design, data modeling, and building ETL solutions.

Job summary

Data Center Systems builds world-class controls software, enabling high security metering, monitoring, alarming, and software enabled backstops to ensure the health of our thermal and electrical infrastructure at high infrastructure utilization.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work on our Science team and partner closely with other Data Engineers, Data Scientists, BIEs, Technical Program Managers, and Software teams to create data pipelines that are used to optimize power, cooling, and supply chain decisions for AWS Infrastructure. You will be responsible for leading Data Engineering projects across our organization. This job is able to be located in Seattle, Denver or Northern Virginia.

You have good business and communication skills to be able to work with product owners to understand key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions.

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Redshift, S3, EC2, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Experience with workflow management platforms such as Airflow, Luigi, and Step functions.
  • Interest in learning, researching, and creating new technologies in data center infrastructure.
  • Expert in another major programming language (C, C++, Java etc…)
