JOB SUMMARY

The Digital Solutions Department at the American Cancer Society seeks a Data Scientist with geospatial data and analytics experience for a position within the Data Science team. This position will focus on the management and analysis of data and geospatial data including development of decision support tools. The candidate will also support additional data science and analysis tasks as identified by leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position focuses on delivering effective decision support tools to the ACS Patient Support and Advocacy pillars. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and process internal and external data including ACS program data as well as census, HRSA, CDC, NCI and other sources in preparation for research, analysis and decision support tool development.
  • Develop spatial models and implement complex data and spatial data analysis
  • Retrieve data from company's DB to fulfil requests
  • Produce technical documentation to support spatial model designs
  • Author data and publish as services
  • Develop and publish dashboards, maps, story maps and applications within arcgisonline and enterprise platforms
  • Maintain existing applications
  • Provide end user support
  • Other tasks as directed by the Data Science leadership.
  • Provides guidance to staff across the organization on data science and geospatial data and analytics best practices
  • Presents data findings to Digital Solutions mgmt., business partners across the organization, and also to external audiences as necessary
