Title: HR Data Scientist

Division: Human Resources

Contract Position based at: Whitley

Rate: up to £28.11/hr Ltd (c. £21.80/hr PAYE option)

Position Description:

HR Data Scientist

Responsible for delivering the analytics strategy within HR and delivering the analytics service provided to HR and business leaders (including BoM). Be a people analytics expert, applying analytics techniques to provide insights into real business issues, and developing tools and processes to drive organisation transformation initiatives.

This HR Data Scientist position sits within the People Data & Analytics team and will design and deploy analytics solutions, processes and products as appropriate.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Bring technical expertise in workforce data and analytics by developing, deploying and maintaining statistical models and tools, using Python.
  • Support the maintenance, improvement and expansion (as appropriate) of data sets contained in BigQuery (Google Cloud Platform), to meet business requirements and uphold data privacy / quality requirements
  • Developing visualisations within dashboards within Tableau.
  • Drive the upskilling of HR colleagues in data understanding, interpretation and insights to enable effective data driven processes and decisions.
  • Ensure that user experience, automation quality and self-service are at the heart of the reporting service design and delivery.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues and teams across HR, Finance and the corporate analytics team to advance the people analytics service in line with business priorities, delivering the scoping and execution of new analytics initiatives
  • Use agile methodology to deliver against a backlog of analytics requests and priorities in line with programme and stakeholder priorities
  • Bring expertise to enable the development and delivery of data management processes for organisation development and transformation initiatives, including the development of tools, data collection and reporting mechanisms
  • Research and define the strategy for using reporting and analytics technologies to provide People and organisation data reporting, analytics, visualizations, and predictive analytics

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Solid understanding of Statistical Analysis/Machine Learning principles
  • Data Science technical coding skills (e.g. Python, R, Julia, etc)
  • Database design, maintenance & SQL proficiency
  • DSML (Data Science & Machine Learning) platform proficiency (e.g. Alteryx, Google Cloud AI Platform, SAS, etc)
  • Proficiency in building dashboards within Tableau, Power BI or similar
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, etc¿)
  • Storytelling Skills. Be able to communicate effectively the so what?
  • A strong sense of curiosity. Be willing to question everything.
  • Understanding of HR datasets & business processes is an advantage
  • A solid communicator and a strong team player. Confident working closely with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels of seniority.
  • A creative & innovative problem solver. The ability to dive into a business challenge and look from various perspectives how we can leverage data to provide key insights.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify how one issue can impact on another and put in place the required interventions through support or from own knowledge base

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience within a dedicated data and analytics team
  • Experience working with people data, technology and systems, e.g. SAP / SF

Education Required:

Ideally, a formal education or relevant work experience in statistics and/or computer science
