Our team in Amsterdam currently has an opening for a Data Engineer

Brenntag is undergoing a group-wide transformation to deliver profitable organic growth and sustained group efficiencies. Data & Analytics is a key pillar which will allow us to ‘liberate’ our data and thus improve our decision-making at speed.

We are looking for talented, self-starters with a passion for analytics to join our growing team. Our Data & ML Engineering team is the key foundational capability to enable end to end analytics. As part of the Data Engineering team, your role has accountability for building the data foundation and platforms.

You will collaborate with the Data Scientist, Data Visualization Designer/ Developers and ML Engineers, working within agile squads to ensure delivery of working and scalable analytics &products.

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop and maintain data ingestion, data processing and data producing pipelines according to the best practices
• Implement automated and resilient orchestration solution using modern scheduling tools
• Build continuous integration and continuous deployment scripts to ensure high quality production
• Design and develop data quality observability scripts
• Analyse and profile data for the purpose of developing analytics products
• Collaborate with a cross functional agile team of platform engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and product owners to build new products

YOUR PROFILE

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or related field
• 2+ years data engineering experience
• Skilled in one or more programming languages related to data engineering (such as Python or Scala)
• Hands on experience with cloud environments such as Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS
• Hands on experience with Big Data and NoSQL technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Impala, HBase, Cassandra, Storm, Flume, Pig, or Hive
• Hands on experience with scripting languages such as Linux Shell
• Has a problem solving and analytical mindset
• Nice to have - data integration experience with enterprise systems such as SAP ecosystem, Salesforce, etc.
• Nice to have - experience with data management tools such as AWS Glue, informatic, etc.
• Nice to have - in-depth understanding of micro service architecture
