Software Engineer – Data Scientist

Performance Expectations

• Work with large data sets and be able to filter, and create valuable insights.
• Model systems using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Work closely with product management and development to ideate and prototype novel features that improve the machine’s efficiency, serviceability, and overall user experience.
• Develop proof-of-concept prototypes to validate hypotheses and assumptions.
• Lead the technical development for production-level features that are selected for delivery to market.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software/mechatronics engineering or related field (computer science, other engineering), or in lieu of degree, relevant experience in field of data science/engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience in data science/engineering.
• Familiarity with C++, Python, Windows/Linux systems, Git, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Strong skills in relational database management software and making queries needed to extract insight in SQL server/My SQL workbench.
• Solid knowledge of python data science stack (pandas/numpy/matplotlib/ scikit learn).
• Knowledge in CAN and other networking protocols.
• Strong experience/expertise in data mining and handling/cleaning/joining large data sets, deriving predictive models/correlations between different features.
• Software design and debugging experience.
• Proven track record of developing data-driven features/algorithms for physical products.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate ideas clearly.
• Problem solving skills and innovative mindset.
• Solid understanding of linear algebra, algorithms, optimization, and numerical methods.
• Knowledge of deep cycle lead acid and Li-ion batteries preferred.
