A global insurance firm is looking for an urgent Risk and controls Data Analyst to come on board for an initial 6 month contract (outside IR35). This role will be based in their London HQ.

About the Risk and Controls Data Analyst:

Our client needs to demonstrate that it has suitable data controls and risk mitigation processes in place; a Programme has been initiated to assess our current state, put together a plan and KPIs to achieve the end goal and then take steps to execute the plan.

The role is for an experienced Data Risks and Controls Business Analyst who will analyse business processes and data flows used to produce critical reports and identify unmitigated data risks. The candidate will assess the effectiveness of existing controls and propose additional controls to strengthen the end to end process.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Analyse report generation processes and data flows using data lineage, systems architecture diagrams, data quality assessment, data models and other artefacts as inputs
• Identify, assess and document unmitigated data risks arising from systems, users and processes
• Assess the effectiveness of existing controls and support the formalisation of these in Xactium – the Risk Management tool
• Propose and design additional reconciliations and other controls that can be used to mitigate identified data risks
• Define metrics to measure risks and controls effectiveness (KRI, KCI) and MI associated
• Propose other recommendations to mitigate data risks and remediate any issues identified
• Identify measurable benefits from risks, controls and remediation actions taken
• Provide input into overall Risks and Controls Frameworks based on findings from analysis of specific business processes

Key skill set required:

• Previous significant experience working on Data Governance and Data Quality framework design and delivery (non negotiable)
• Significant experience in the design and implementation of Data Management frameworks/processes/controls
• Ability to analyse data models, databases and basic SQL scripts
• Prior experience in a similar role by a large institution in the financial services
• London Market Insurance experience highly desirable
