Qualifications
You will create a new Orpheus software product based on SAP cloud technology components (SAC, DWC) in close collaboration with SAP software development.
This innovative analytics solution will cover procurement analysis as well as related areas like zero-based budgeting. You will support and implement technical solutions for data connectivity (e.g. to S/4HANA, SAP ECC, Ariba), data processing, cleansing, enrichment as well as data modeling.
Leveraging SAP and non-SAP ETL and data-transformation tools or scripts (e.g. SnapLogic, DWC, SQL, Python), you will access APIs, merge various internal and external data tables and sources, perform data quality checks and build up complex data models that will form the basis for further data cleaning, KPIs and analytics. Together with consulting teams, project managers and clients, you will gain understanding of client and project requirements and discuss how to best integrate them technically into the end product.
Another important part of your work will be the continuous development, deployment and improvement of our technology platform and the created business content. Here you will work closely with our client delivery and data science teams to create and deploy scalable solutions that can be brought to hundreds of clients per year.

You will be based in our Munich office as part of Orpheus. The development team you will be part of will consist of internal McKinsey colleagues as well as external vendors.

You’ll be working with our global Orpheus team of software, analytics, and procurement experts. You will be joining a fast-growing team in the procurement arena and taking cutting-edge technology solutions to clients.
Orpheus infuses best-in-class software technology and AI-based analytics with supply-market and category-sourcing expertise. You’ll be part of a team that develops core solutions for the digitally enabled procurement function of the future. This will involve all business value chain activities from product development to distribution and playing a strategic role in managing budgets and costs, anticipating and mitigating supply risk, driving compliance, and generating transparency on external spend in an organization.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, information systems or related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional work experience in a data engineering function or with a reputed SAP system integrator firm
- Strong coding knowledge in SQL and Python
- Deep understanding of SAP data warehousing and data lake concepts; experience building operational ETL data pipelines across a number of sources and constructing relational and dimensional data models
- Experience with large data handling through SnapLogic, Talend, or Alteryx is a plus
- Experience with SAP BW and SAP BW/4HANA
- Experience with DWC is a plus
- Experience in the field of procurement or supply chain is a plus
- Solid problem-solving capabilities including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions
- Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communications skills in English
- Willingness to travel (~20%)
