Asset Data Scientist

The Contract

Ventia will put the customer at the centre of everything we do through the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract. We aspire to deliver a step change in the delivery of road and ITS maintenance and management services in the western Parkland zone of Metropolitan Sydney and further ITS services through the rest of regional NSW. We will be driven by outcomes that will consider customers, stakeholders and places in our decision making and will drive sustainability through service delivery. The Role

Based west of Metropolitan Sydney the Asset Data Scientist will support the Asset Management team in the analysis and interpretation of the information collected from the Networks.
The role is an integral part of the contract as it will aim to increase knowledge of the current and predicted performance of the network assets to refine work programmes, which in turn will assist in ensuring the safety of the road user.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with the Asset Management Team to identify, analyse and build complex prediction models to return the best whole of life solutions for network assets.
• Formulating mathematical models to simulate processes.
• Analysing and interpreting data, and producing relevant statistics to reflect observed trends.
• Using numerical analysis methods to develop algorithms from observed data to replicate trends.
• Calibrating of existing models with developed algorithms
• Developing and applying models to reflect observed trends, adjust and recalibrate the models as new data is received.
• Evaluating and reporting on the reliability and completeness of collected source data.
• Assisting in the compilation of records, ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to incorporation into the asset management system.
• Assisting in developing and maintaining network programs of work.
  

Requirements

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Open Drivers Licence
• Knowledge of TfNSW design procedures, codes and specifications together with effective Quality Assurance.
• Is up to date with industry trends.
• Good communication skills in listening, oral and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others as well as work autonomously.
• Demonstrates a service-excellence approach and has the ability to drive a culture of delivering customer and stakeholder value.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic; is conscientious and resilient under pressure.
• Is an innovative thinker; who can think outside the square.
• Computer literacy skills.
