What You'll Do:
The Lead Data Engineer will help to lead the Data Intelligence Team's data integration work, including assessing the current data landscape, developing a new data model framework, optimizing the current data warehouse and analytics environment, and creating scripts for data integration and analysis. A pivotal responsibility will be to provide both the thought leadership and execution skill necessary to align multiple disparate data sources across the organization. This position is for someone who enjoys being part visionary, part ambassador and part engineer. The successful candidate will be comfortable translating business requirements into data frameworks using a defined set of data standards and principles.

This role will work closely and collaboratively with members of the data intelligence team and other internal Billtrust stakeholders to understand complex reporting requirements and recommend changes to source systems in order to cleanly integrate data from across the
enterprise. Additionally, the candidate will work with the engineering team to deploy reliable, efficient and high-quality data pipelines. Ensure that the design and development of solutions, follow best practices/principles and standards for data architecture, source code management, environment management and testing

Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines in support of data and analytics projects, including integrating new sources of data into our team's data warehouse, and moving data out to
applications and other various consumers

Set timeliness and accuracy goals for data pipelines, maintain sufficient monitoring & coverage to ensure that incidents and outages are mitigated appropriately and documented in comprehensive root cause analyses

Implement and monitor best in class security measures in our data warehouse and analytics environment

Work with data consumers to identify self-service opportunities, and make sure they have access to the data they need to make key business decisions

What You'll Bring to the Team:
Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics or related
discipline or equivalent experience

10+ years of success in a fast-paced, product-centric environment, with a demonstrated
understanding of data engineering and data integration

Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability. Strong collaboration and communication skills within and across teams

Knowledge and practice implementing a cloud-based data architecture from scratch

Ability to objectively assess current state architecture, and subsequently design, build and maintain scalable solutions based on business need

Strong architectural and design knowledge; architecting and building data pipelines is second nature to you.

Experience with SQL and relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases

Ability to write clear code that is well-documented and stored in a version control system

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, in both a lead and support role

Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities

Strong aptitude and desire for learning new technologies and analytics techniques

Ability to identify and troubleshoot data issues within a warehouse/mart environment

Understanding of best practices in managing enterprise data including master data, data quality, lineage and security

Experience with Python and/or Node JS a plus but not required

Target Base Compensation: $126,000.00 - $167,000.00
