The Engineering and Product Development team at Industrial Scientific is inviting applications for a Data Engineer/Analyst to build and support the Industrial Scientific portfolio of software products and services. Industrial Scientific is an industry leader in the field of industrial safety with a range of award-winning Internet of Things / Connected products and recurring revenue business models. For example, our iNet Now Live Monitoring software and Radius BZ1 Area Monitor recently won platinum awards in the Occupational Health and Safety Industrial Hygiene Awards. A Data Engineer/Analyst will be part of a highly collaborative and innovative agile team, participating in all life-cycle aspects of the product development process. This person will engage with cross functional teams to understand customer needs, engineer solutions and guide development and release, focusing on analytics and modeling to enable growth. A successful Data Engineer will also impact our culture of continuous improvement through problem solving, retrospective and learning and growth.

Responsibilities:
Design and implementation of production grade analytics views and models within product technology stack or in cloud environments.

Design and implement data warehouses, real-time ETL, and batch processing of data to support modeling and reporting needs
Provide support to analytics visualization applications via data modeling, view generation, and prototype dashboards.
Address data and technology gaps with data governance, data architecture, and IT strategy
Partner with data scientists, analysts, and customers to support modeling and reporting needs and to build and maintain internal data processing and visualization
Translate requests into replicable analytic reports using varying applications

Create tools to serve data such as APIs and packages as needed

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT/IS, or a field related to a computational science or 5+ years experience working as a data engineer or architect
Experience managing data ETL processes and making data available through service applications and databases.

Familiar with planning DW capacity for compute, storage and cost optimization in cloud-based distributed data storage technology (NoSQL/SQL/OLAP/etc) in a customer-facing production environment
Proficient skills in data modeling, OLAP query optimization, staged transformations and CI/CD for enterprise DW environments
Experience in DW models such as data vault, star schema, snowflake schema, etc.
3+ years experience with programming languages (Python, Java, R, and/or Scala preferred)
Excellent communication skills, including a knack for clear documentation

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in Computer Science or other technical field
Knowledge of machine learning and data science processes
Experience supporting data science and analytical efforts is preferred
