Purpose of the Role: The Senior Data Engineer will oversee the management of critical data pertaining to school operations and business processes. Collaborating closely with the team, the role focuses on optimizing systems, with a particular emphasis on Salesforce, to facilitate access to essential sales and support information, as well as public datasets.
Key Responsibilities: In this role, the Senior Data Engineer will:
- Advocate for the strategic use of data across the organization, emphasizing its potential to drive improved outcomes and efficiency while assisting teams in enhancing their data utilization skills.
- Manage extensive datasets utilizing various databases, including but not limited to Google Big Query.
- Facilitate access to datasets for business and product teams through multiple technologies, including ODBC, SQL, and REST.
- Ensure the maintenance of datasets sourced from internal and external services, demonstrating a proactive approach to data integrity and accuracy.
- Take a leadership role in overseeing our data platform and warehouse infrastructure.
- Foster collaborative partnerships across teams to support seamless integrations, automation initiatives, and ongoing enhancement of data quality.
- Proactively identify and address data-related issues, presenting solutions and driving continuous improvements.
Person Specification
Must Have:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering within either commercial or educational environments.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a demonstrated ability to build and optimize data pipelines.
- Experience in developing automations and enabling user self-service access to data through technologies such as SQL and ODBC.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data warehousing solutions, including but not limited to Big Query.
- Demonstrated curiosity and a strong desire to continuously learn and develop technical skills.
