Zurich Insurance Plc are currently hiring a Pricing Data Scientist to join the Zurich GI Actuarial team.

Working in the Underwriting department in Zurich General Insurance Ireland, reporting to the Personal Lines Pricing Manager, the key purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Zurich GI Personal Lines Pricing strategy and objectives.

This role may be available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

Your Role

As a Pricing Data Scientist your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and develop pricing tools and predictive models, using both traditional statistical methods (e.g. GLMs) as well as machine learning techniques and models, for Motor and Home Insurance.
  • Improve pricing sophistication though the identification and implementation of new rating factors, 3rd party data enrichment, feature engineering etc.
  • Support the automation of critical pricing processes to improve efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Maintain and improve MI capabilities and analysis, assisting in the provision of pricing insights to Portfolio Managers and underwriters to support portfolio management, pricing, and risk selection.
  • Participate in pricing projects and rate reviews including the design, testing and maintenance of pricing models and the communication of model output.
  • Provide support to the Pricing Manager, Pricing Team colleagues, and wider company in delivering on strategic objectives.
  • Compliance with Zurich Group & Local policies and procedures

Your Skills & Experience

As a Pricing Data Scientist your skills and qualifications will include:

Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant field e.g. Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science (including part-qualified actuaries pursuing actuarial qualification).
  • 1-3 years of experience in a Data Science or Actuarial role, or a related field. Experience working within the insurance industry would be highly beneficial, however consideration will be given to suitable candidates with other relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, with knowledge of R, Python, Excel, VBA and other programming languages and tools. Knowledge of EMBlem, Radar, and/or SAS would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Flexible team player with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated, demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical subject matter to a wide range of stakeholders.

Additional Information

Primary work location is Dublin based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
