Why is this role important?
We’re looking for a smart, nice and curious Data Scientist to broaden our Data Science Health team. Are you eager to work on solving real-world healthcare problems in a collaborative R&D team within Loblaw Data, Insights and Analytics team?
We seek to understand a dynamic landscape to identify effective and innovative solutions that encourage healthier living for Canadians across the country. Working with business teams from across the organization and leveraging a tremendous wealth of pharmacy and retail data allows our team to identify new ways to drive innovation and establish ourselves as leaders within the Health and Wellness space.
The ideal fit for this role is someone who is deeply curious and driven to improve and refine best practices in our field, who is looking to develop an understanding of the way we handle applied R&D in an enterprise setting.
The day to day of this role covers:
Working on collaborative, cross-functional teams with particular emphasis on developing new methods and models for pharmacy and nutrition business needs
Keeping skills current in AI/ML and across relevant data platforms and best practices for applied AI/ML at the enterprise (SQL, Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch)
Working remote as well as at multiple offices around the GTA
Maintaining a ‘consulting’ mindset and approach
We’re looking to extend and complement the existing team with some of these skills:
Research Areas of Interest
Health and Medical Science
Computer Vision and Image Processing
NLP/EMR
Technical & Communication
Enterprise grade best practices in coding and documentation
Continuous Integration and Development Tools (Git and Jira)
AI/ML operationalization best practices (eg containerization, monitoring, and lifecycle management)
Cloud infrastructure (ideally GCP, Azure and AWS welcome)
Experience with data wrangling, especially working with Healthcare data
Process & Leadership
(1+ years) Demonstrated experience with model development, particularly in collaborative engineering or science team
(1+ years) Demonstrated experience with cross-functional teams and working in a ‘matrix’ style environment
