Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Stefanini Group is looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer for a globally recognized automotive company based in Michigan.

• Global Data Insight & Analytics organization is looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer focused on building and taking to production a variety of Machine Learning use cases
• This role will work in a small, cross-functional teams
• The position will collaborate directly and continuously with business partners, product managers and designers, and will release early and often
• The team you will be working on is called MLOps and focuses on productionalizing different Machine Learning Use Cases

• Work closely with the Product Manager and Product Owner to translate Business Value needs (the WHAT) into User Stories (the HOW) for delivery by Software Engineers
• Lead other machine learning engineers to understand ML use case objectives, break out tasks and help them solve challenging issues
• Bring best MLOps practices and standards, working with other Technical Anchors for the Product as well as COE/Operations for the ML tools used
• Grow technical capabilities / expertise and provide guidance to other machine learning engineers on the team
• Work with architects to make technical decision on tools, integration and other issues
• Help innovate and iterate on agile processes and share our learnings
• Work hand to hand with Data Scientists and Software Engineers
• Act as a consultant to the business vs. an order taker
• Participate in hiring and talent retention activities
• Lead by example in use of Paired Programming for cross training/upskilling, problem solving, and speed to delivery

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science
• 2+ years of work experience with Machine Learning Technologies
• 2+ years of work experience as a software engineer
• 1+ years of work experience deploying machine learning applications into production

• Master and PhD focused in Computer Science / Machine Learning (highly preferred)
• Experience working with Google Cloud platform - specifically the AI Platform and other GSP AI/ML services
• Experience and good understanding of Machine Learning / Deep Learning Models / Python / Natural Language Processing and MLOps for production environments
• Understanding or desire to learn end to end Machine Learning technology stack (Tools such as GCP Vertex AI, Domino Data Labs, Kubernetes, Jupyer Notebook, Hive, Hadoop, etc.)
• Strong soft skills of communication, ability to share/teach others, work collaboratively with others etc.
• Good understanding of cloud design considerations and limitations and impact of pricing
• Proficient in Python, and ML frameworks/libraries
• Prior experience working with: container technology, docker files, docker images, GitHub, CI/CD concepts
• Experience in delivering machine learning software products using iterative approach
• Experience in programming concepts such as Paired Programming, Test Driven Development, etc.
• Experience in supporting continuous improvement by investigating development alternatives
• Experience using Machine Learning tools (pytorch, tensorflow, xgboost etc)
• Experience applying agile practices to solution delivery
• Experience in all phases of the development lifecycle
• Must be team-oriented and have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Must be a self-starter to understand existing bottlenecks and come up with innovative solutions
• Open to learning new technology
• Knowledge of coding and best practices
• This role is about leading a team which build and deploys ML applications - not simply a data science role to build models
