Reports to: Head of AI NB & AI Operations Manager

Overview / Purpose Of The Position

Data Scientist is part of the Artificial Intelligence Notified Body, AI Testing Team. The position is for an experienced Data Scientist in AI Datasets Analysis. The main role is to participate in the conformity assessment process of AI models, in terms of analysing and reporting regulatory compliance of datasets as part of the AI/ML testing service of AI NB.

Additionally, the data scientists will have to participate in shaping and updating tools and procedures relevant to the conformity assessment process. He/She will be supporting training needs on AI datasets for the AI NB team.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Reporting to management lines in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Support Global Quality and Accreditation in maintenance of accreditation.
  • Support Internal Training to develop and deliver training to ensure that the Regulatory Requirements and BSI’s QMS fully understood.
  • Responsibility & Oversight of AI datasets testing process.
  • Maintain a portfolio of tools and technologies to ensure and continually assess their efficiency and accuracy.
  • Horizon scan to stay up to date with latest technology, techniques and methods.
  • Cooperating with project Management team for appropriate allocation of technical assessments according to impartiality and competence.
  • Support technical assessment process by providing guidance and solutions.
  • Communicate and coordinate actions effectively during assessment process.
  • Participate in internal AI projects. Identify the data sources required, collecting, migrating and cleansing the data to support the analysis and modelling studies.
  • Test AI datasets and reporting regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the development and procurement of AI testing tools.
  • Recording of time on the BSI Time system.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria (required to do the job)

Knowledge and Experience (e.g. Type, level)

  • An understanding of BSI, its role and the approach of Regulatory Services to Conformity Assessment Activities and Certification for CE / UK marking.
  • At least three (3) years' post-graduate experience in one of the following areas: AI data analysis.
  • Awareness of AI regulations and released standards/guidance.
  • Experience in the data collection, annotation and analysis of AI datasets.

Skills And Abilities (e.g. Teamwork, IT, Communication, Relationships)

  • Conceptual and analytical thinking, efficiency and results orientation.
  • A team player good at relationship building internally and externally with authorities and clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle personalized data based on GDPR framework.

Education / Qualifications(e.g. Technical)

  • First or higher degree in engineering, science or related discipline.
  • Degree or Training Certificate on AI Data Analysis.

Personal Qualities / Aptitudes (e.g. Initiative, flexibility, commitment, reliability)

  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly communication and influencing skills.
  • Capable of operating with horizontal and vertical reporting lines.
  • Self-motivating / Enthusiastic.
  • Delivery and outcome focussed.

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge and Experience (e.g. Type, level)

  • Thorough knowledge of AI Regulations and related Guidance documents.
  • At least three (3) years' post-graduate experience in one of the following areas: product development in relevant industries (e.g., robotics, MD, IVD), SW development, AI models development-testing.
  • Hands on experience on AI datasets analysis tools.
  • Experience in working with very large datasets.
  • Experience in working in cloud environment

Education / Qualifications(e.g. Technical)

  • Appropriate training on relevant standards and SW lifecycle.
  • Certification on AI datasets analytics.
