Data Scientist

Responsibilities

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a client focused problem-solver to join our collaborative and innovative GIS team.

Responsibilities Include

• Creating maps in support of engineering and planning projects
• Developing GIS data using a variety of techniques including:
• Data conversion, digitization, georeferencing, linear referencing, geocoding, mobile data collection, and data creation from research and source documentation
• Developing and implementing quality control and quality assurance methodologies to maximize data accuracy
• Performing spatial data analysis within the ESRI suite and related software such as QGIS, Tableau and Excel
• Writing reports, memos, Standard Operating Procedures, and data dictionaries
• Performing graphic design and CAD tasks to assist with data models, analysis, and presentations
• Attending and presenting at public meetings; attending client meetings
• Performing data collection verification in the field.
  

A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in geography, environmental science, or related field or the ability to obtain the degree within six months of hire date. If no degree, must have at least four years of related experience.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have Any/all Of The Following

• Experience with ESRI GIS software suite including ArcPro, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Online
• Research skills
• Experience reports related to engineering and/or planning projects
• Experience with QGIS, Tableau, and Excel software programs
• Experience with Python and/or JavaScript programming for GIS
