Remote and Hybrid Work Schedules Available - Must live within the Meijer footprint [Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky] Or, be willing to relocate to our footprint to be eligible for Remote work option. Relocation assistance available if/as needed.

Currently Meijer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Data Engineer for the Meijer Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDaA) train. The Software Engineer/Data Engineer develops, tests, maintains and enhances enterprise data and analytic solutions as a member of an Agile or Operations development team, and works with the entire team to ensure development conforms to acceptance criteria. This Senior Data Engineer is for our Product360/Data Science/Store Operations Data team and works with business product owners, developers, and quality analysts to drive value delivery and will participate in all phases of Agile software development.

What You'll be Doing (Responsibilities):
  • Designs, Codes, tests, and implements data movement, dashboarding, and analytical assets; develops system documentation according to SAFe Agile principles and industry standards.
  • Performs unit tests, monitors results, and takes required corrective actions as needed.
  • Mentors and coaches other members of the agile team.
  • Ensure successful deployment of Product360 capabilities (PIM software/Data Science/Store Operations Data analytic solutions.
  • Optimizes and enhances analytical assets to meet SLA/functional requirements.
  • Provides technical consultation in new development, enterprise integration and impact of enhancement on existing systems.
  • Assists product owners in systems analysis and creation or updating of documentation for all business processes.
  • Coordinates with the Product Owner and IT partners to develop acceptance criteria for features and user stories and ensures acceptance criteria are met. Actively participates in all team Agile ceremonies.
  • Participates with other IT members, customers and other stakeholders in new product reviews, tests and pilots.
  • Performs feasibility studies/proofs of concept to evaluate solutions.
  • Participates in structured walkthroughs, secure coding, and technical reviews ensuring application coding and design follows secure coding and design principles.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent.
  • Retail experience is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and programming.
  • Understanding and proficiency in data movement and analytic technologies including: Azure - Data Factory, Log Analytics, Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, ADLS Gen2, Polybase and Machine Learning/AI.
  • Experience with any Product Information Management solution (PIM) software.
  • Experience as a team member on project teams in a cross-functional environment. Experience on Agile teams is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of development tools, coding and scripting languages, SQL and testing.
  • Knowledge of database management and file access methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Ability to provide high level of quality and productivity.
