Job Description

The Data Science team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to act as a bridge between the Sports Modelling and Betting Analytics units within the team. The ideal candidate will be able to understand sports betting forecasting models, build automated pipelines for release into production and establish the principles for the technical scalability of the team’s projects. The role will be based in London or Athens, but strong candidates from other locations will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Fetch appropriate data from the data-lake.
• Apply data cleansing methods to identify corrupt or inaccurate data entries.
• Apply Machine Learning techniques to identify patterns in the data.
• Ability to understand the betting forecasting models of the Sports Modelling unit.
• Create modelling pipelines in Python based on betting data that automates the model parameters upon demand.
• Create guidelines for coding best-practises.
• Create guidelines for release into production.
• Maintain the Data Science model repository.
• Report to the Director of Data Science on workflow and share findings with the Data Science team.
• Collaborate closely with Sports Modelling and Betting Analytics units.
  
  

Qualifications

Essential

• A postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or a closely related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of working experience or a PhD in a quantitative field.
• Experience with various modelling techniques (e.g. Probability Distributions, GLMs, Monte Carlo Simulations, Bayesian Inference, Time-Series Analysis etc.)
• Experience with various supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning methodologies (e.g. Neural Networks, Random Forests, GBMs, SVMs etc.).
• Advanced Python (e.g. Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Keras, PyTorch SciPy etc.), C# and SQL programming skills.
• A good understanding of betting concepts and markets.
• Experience with version control platforms (e.g. GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.).
  
  

Desirable

• Experience with Big Data tools (e.g. Apache Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra etc.).
• Experience with database management tools.
• Experience with data visualisation platforms (e.g. Tableau, Qlik Sense etc.).
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.

• You must have a strong work ethic and outstanding interpersonal skills.
