Are you driven to help teams imagine, design, and build toward the future? We are looking for ambitious, creative problem solvers to help catalyze the next generation of our Financial Advisory business by harnessing the power of data analytics.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Data Analyst on our Innovation Centre of Excellence team, you will collaborate with teams across the Financial Advisory business to discover and deliver data-driven innovations that transform the way we work and deliver value to clients. In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of analytically driven engagements and POCs including discovery, data preparation, analysis planning and execution, and communication of results to key stakeholders
- Generate business insights aligned to engagement objectives through the application of analytical techniques to large sets of financial and non-financial data, develop models and analytical tests, and prepare compelling visualizations
- Research leading edge technologies, products, platforms, and organizations to uncover trends and opportunities for data-driven innovation
- Support the design and facilitation of engaging workshops with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders to share and explore insights and generate new data and analytics enabled solutions
- Learn from deep subject matter experts through mentoring and on the job coaching
- Build connections and collaborate with a diverse team of experts, including from Deloitte’s global network of industry and domain experts, to amplify the impact of your work
Our teams use a broad stack of analytic and data technologies. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for generating business insights leveraging the following:
- Data preparation and modeling – SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), T-SQL, and Alteryx Designer
- Analytics – Python, R, Altair (Angoss) Knowledge Studio, and SQL
- Visualization – Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, and IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook
- Data management system – Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Hadoop Hive
- Programing – JavaScript, C#, and Java
About the team
The Innovation Centre of Excellence is a team of dedicated resources focused on helping our Financial Advisory business explore, incubate and launch new services, assets, and business models; as well as enhance our existing offerings through the application of design thinking, data science, digital technologies, and ecosystem / alliance relationships. We partner with delivery teams to identify and accelerate innovation and digital transformation opportunities through a range of activities including facilitating “art of the possible” sessions; leading innovation sprints; creating proofs of concept; assisting with the development of technology and data assets; providing oversight and expertise on alliance and technology driven projects; and further cultivating Deloitte’s community of innovation catalysts.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
You are someone with:
- Completed Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a quantitative discipline such as: Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance or other quantitative discipline.
- 0-2 years of relevant professional experience
- Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
- Proven understanding of how to prepare data and generate insights, including foundational understanding or/and hands-on experience with data analysis or visualization tools
- Meets at least two of the following criteria:
- Data analysis experience using one or more of the preferred analytics tools
- Experience with data preparation and modeling including mining, transformation and normalization
- Experience in data management systems including development of custom stored-procedures, functions
- Experience in visualization including development of dashboards, network analysis and executive reporting
- Comfort with working with large sets of data across multiple environments and providing insights
- Ability to deeply understand relations between data inputs and process mapping
- A passion for learning and experience in managing the ambiguity of working in and defining unknown spaces.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality output with a high degree of task ownership.
- Experience with SAP Hana and/or RPA development would be considered an asset.
