About the job:

Under limited supervision, is responsible for supporting MercyOne Physicians Group and Network improvement initiatives including data mining, database administration, complex report generation and analysis, designing improvement studies, facilitating improvement teams, implementing improvement processes and systems related to the Accountable Care Organization quality and care management initiatives..

What you will do:

• Through critical thinking and curiosity, provides analysis of data to clinic leadership on opportunities for clinical quality performance improvement. (Initiative).
• Provides assistance to Leaders and Providers of Mercy Clinics to understand and interpret findings and address quality performance issues. (Problem Solving)
• Creates dashboards, graphical trends and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data using a variety of software applications and statistical methods to provide information to leaders, metric owners, and improvement teams. (Problem Solving)
• Coordinates, compiles, and provides initial analysis of internal and external clinical surveys and third party bench marking surveys/reports.
• Creates and designs databases and spreadsheets that assist Clinical and Physician Services’ staff with queries, forms, and reports and assures database integrity. (Initiative)
• Serves as a resource and trainer for database manipulation throughout Mercy North Iowa, Network Hospitals, Clinics and Trinity Health Services. (Teamwork)
• Is responsible for internal and external database management including file maintenance, importing, exporting, transferring file, data submission, queries and report generation, assuring data integrity. (Adherence to Policies)
• Identifies areas for report consolidation and self-service opportunities, ensuring that functional requirements necessary to fulfill data acquisition and reporting requests are identified, documented, and communicated. (Teamwork)
• Manages assigned clinical/financial databases to assure national and local definitions are being adhered to, and that the comparative data are accurate, complete, and current. Performs validation as required for data integrity.(Adherence to Policies)
• Stays abreast of regulatory changes, proposed and implemented (Healthcare Reform). Searches to obtain evidence-based guidelines and research articles to support clinical improvement initiatives and standard reporting practices. (Continuous Learner)
• Coordinates and facilitates quality initiatives and development of data collection methods and analysis of outcomes in a statistically sound manner. This includes facilitating agreement from specific leaders to capture data that are not otherwise collected. (Communication)
• Establishs and enhances an effective and collaborative working relationship with leaders of both the hospital, network and physicians in order to facilitate participation in quality program development. (Self Aware)
• Is responsible to coordinate with local and corporate security and downtime policies, procedures and communication maintains confidentiality of data and HIPAA guidelines. (Adherence to Policies)
• Manages and serves as the primary contact for databases/disease registry and reports related to quality for Mercy Health Network ACO.
• Demonstrates customer service to others as a number one priority and accomplishes this by integrating Service Excellence into all aspects of the work day, taking responsibility for service recovery and working for outcomes that delight the customer.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Computer Science field preferred. Masters degree preferred.
• A minimum of one to two years of experience with an EMR (electronic medical record) is required. Experience with physician practice preferred.
• Broad based knowledge of multiple areas of healthcare: clinical processes, health information management, billing and finance.
• Two to three years of experience in clinical outcomes/decision support preferred.
• Must have an advanced level of expertise in data base development and management, spreadsheet utilization, and word processing.
• Project management and facilitation skills essential.
• Strong background in data collection methodology, statistical control and analysis preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and computer skills including Word, Excel, Access, Quickbase, Power Point, electronic medical record, registration and billing systems, statistical software, database management, hardware, and interfaces.
• Demonstrated knowledge of clinical processes, nomenclature (CPT, ICD-9, DRG, ICD-10), electronic health record, charge process and audits and clinical billing.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
• Excellent verbal, including public speaking and written communication skills.
• Performs work with precision and detail.
• Ability to work under time pressure.
• Ability to be involved in multiple projects simultaneously and succeeds under an environment of competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently.
