About the roleReporting to the Data Management & Integration Lead, the Data Engineer role is responsible for expanding and maintaining the Data Platform’s capability to support data pipelines, data flow, integration, and BI reporting.
Working with business data owners you will ensure that data is available; from internal and external sources while optimising data flow and collection through the data management platform and data pipeline architecture.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Work with the business to gather and analyse business and technical requirements
- Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
- Designing, developing and implementing data pipelines for data migration & collection, data analytics and BI reporting & visualisations
- Support and maintain big data and streaming platforms and deployed solutions
- Working with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
- Configure data governance tools for business glossary, metadata management and data quality management
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to maximise value of the data driven solutions and performance of the platform
About youTo be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven working experience as a Data Engineer/BI Analyst/BI Developer preferably in building data solutions by ingesting and processing data from various source systems and developing BI reports and dashboards
- Experience with multiple data technologies and concepts
- Experience using AWS, Snowflake and Kafka product suite
- Extensive experience in SQL and Python
- Communication, negotiation, analytical, research and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of and/or experience with Data integration and streaming technologies
- Knowledge of best practice in data architecture, management, security and governance
- Agile project methodology exposure (Desirable)
- Knowledge and experience of the utilities industry (Desirable)
