Associate Director, Machine Learning Engineer

This position is based in NYC but has the potential to not require an in office presence if you reside in one of the following states:MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD, FLA, IL, TX, AZ, CO or CA.

As Associate Director, Machine Learning Engineer at 1stDibs, reporting to Senior Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative machine learning models to solve complex problems and help optimize aspects of our business. You will work cross-functionally with members of our Product and Engineering teams to help translate business requirements from key stakeholders within the business into practical and scalable machine-learning solutions aligned with our product roadmap.

What You Will Do

• Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models and algorithms to solve use cases such as personalization of items, prediction of prices, generation of product descriptions, and similarity across products images and descriptions
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model selection and tuning to improve the performance and accuracy of machine learning models
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence research and apply them to our solutions
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders from Product and Engineering to design and build innovative solutions to drive the growth of 1stDibs
• Document the design, development, and evaluation processes of machine learning models and algorithms for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership on the development of end-to-end machine learning platforms from feature engineering to model serving. Guide the design and strategic direction of this growing and high-impact platform.

Who You Are

• You have Solid Engineering and Computer Science fundamentals, ideally with a degree in Computer Science with a specialization in AI or equivalent experience
• You have 5+ years of professional experience as a software developer/engineer with a strong focus on machine learning
• You are proficient in Python programming language and PyTorch library, and with using cloud GPUs
• You have experience in architecting, developing, and deploying Machine Learning frameworks in a production environment

$185,000 — $217,000 USD
