Job Title: Data Engineer

Salary expectation: up to £60K depending on experience

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid(3 days in the office and 2 days from home)

Key Responsibilities:


  • Take charge of integrating third-party APIs for a variety of use cases
  • Collaborate with data analyst and DBA to locate and define new process improvements
  • Develop data cleansing procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Maintain existing services regarding data pipeline, efficiently identify and report bugs
  • Ensure all work items are tracked and logged appropriately on JIRA project management system. Participate in tracking, estimating, creating, and resolving tasks as appropriate


Must Haves:


  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer working with large and complex data models, ideally within B2C and/or internet business
  • Proficient in Hadoop / Hive / Git / Snowflake
  • Practical knowledge of Java / Python / Spark / ETL / PowerBI
  • Good understanding of any SQL/NoSQL database (MySQL / Cassandra / etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail, natural curiosity, ability to problem-solve creatively, and to communicate with global staff and accomplish goals with minimal supervision.
  • Passionate about the craft, and enjoys working in a dynamic environment
  • Strong balance of business thinking alongside analytical and technical skills.


Bonus Points for:


  • Experience with Docker / Airflow / Hue / Oozie
  • Familiarity with building Scalable/Maintainable RESTful APIs on Linux
  • Experience of build an inhouse BI solution from scratch or integrate a BI solution like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Metadata and OLAP Cube
  • Experience on hands on Machine Learning or AI projects
  • Familiarity with development with AWS EMR
  • Good commercial sense to learn the business and foresee the bottleneck
