Senior Data Engineer

The Challenge

Project Ares is looking for enthusiastic and motivated engineers who want to build the premier cybersecurity learning platform of the future. We are a diverse and growing engineering team pushing the limits of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. We are building a SaaS platform with a modern microservices stack (GO, gRPC, MongoDB, Redis, SQL Server, GraphQL, Kubernetes). Our front end stack includes React (web, JS) & Unity (game). Our test automation framework is Cypress.

Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer position is key for the Project Ares SaaS Product which will be at the forefront of driving innovation and incubation of software products and cloud services contributing to business growth. We are looking for an experienced data engineer to help us design and build the future data architecture for our platform. As Senior Data Engineer, you will be the foremost technical expert engaging with our core product members for the architecture, design, prototyping and implementation for data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain application data management systems
• Extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources
• Automate manual data movement processes (ETL, migrations)
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by modeling good practices and habits.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
• Keeping updated with the latest industry developments.

Minimum experience and qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ years of experience working with relational, document and key value databases, prefer experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Redis
• 5+ year’s experience developing and supporting production database systems

Core Competencies

• Expert in designing data infrastructure including databases, data warehouses and pipelines
• Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments
• Experience with agile development methodologies & Scrum
• Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
• Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience writing testable and maintainable solutions
• Experience with ORM based solutions (Django a plus)
• Experience with microservices architecture

Compensation: negotiable - $134,000 - $158,000.
