The opportunity

This project is enabled via a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). KTP is one of Europe’s leading government-funded collaborative programmes helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity using expertise, skills and resources from a UK knowledge base. For graduates, KTPs provide a programme designed to develop the skills and knowledge of future business leaders whilst embedding new knowledge, systems and processes in the host company. High-calibre graduates are employed to work on specific projects of strategic importance to companies, whilst being supported by a dedicated University or College. All graduates spend around 10% of their time in training and development.

This is part of a 24-month project that intends to expand business. It will be supported by cross-disciplinary expertise at Cardiff Metropolitan University and comes with a personal development budget and support from academics in data science, business and sport management.

The successful candidate will be responsible to create a workforce data science dashboard, and informed methodology, to direct the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity’s (CIMSPA) decision-making in building a skilled, motivated national sport and physical activity workforce. This KTP holds a critical role in achieving the CIMSPAs vision of shaping a recognised, valued and inclusive sport and physical activity sector.

What We Are Looking For

The vision for the project will focus on creating a workforce data science dashboard, and informed methodology, to direct the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity’s (CIMSPA) decision-making in building a skilled, motivated national sport and physical activity workforce. The project's key objectives aim to ensure workforce planning and development is employer-led by building a data governance tool and framework, identifying accurate indications of skills gaps at a local level and providing routes to appropriate personal development.

The KTP will specifically create for CIMSPA a bespoke multi-data input cloud-based dashboard hosted on a cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure that will integrate various identified data sources such as APIs, databases, or primary data spreadsheets that at present, is not available in the marketplace.
