Job Data Analyst - Commerce

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Commerce Data Engineering team to contribute to the success of our data pipelines that enable product and business teams to move faster and achieve greater results! Join as a Data Analyst and conduct a variety of exercises like working with business representative to understand their needs, digging deep into the intricacies of Commerce Data to determine to answers to tough question, and delivering information to team members and leaders to make decisions. Success in this role comes from working well with both technical teams and non-technical partners by combining an understanding of and attention to detail about the data for the Commerce domain with the stories that data can tell for many areas of the business.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for turning data into information and information into insight in our Commerce Data space. This includes understanding the data in and out, being able to explain it to technical participants and leaders, influencing data decisions, and designing presentation patterns for the data.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze requirements of partners who use the data and anticipate the needs and uses of our data by various partners and end users
• Educate consumers on great ways to use our data and combine it with other data for business insights through building examples and documentation
• Highlight and communicate issues with data to both the internal team and external consumers
• Meet with leadership to present key findings, clearly communicate challenges, and offer suggestions for resolution
• Proactively influence data strategy across our team and our broader organization
• Perform data validation and certification processes to ensure transitions are smooth and accurate
• Understand usage patterns to highlight areas of focus for process or consumption improvements
• Deep dive into new areas of data to guide the teams actions and focus with statistical or data-driven approaches
• Act as an internal representative to our broader analyst community
  

Who You Are

• 3 - 5 year's experience with of all aspects of data analysis including data connections, querying data sources, aggregation strategies, visualization of data and completely comfortable digging into data through various means such as SQL or scripting
• Both skilled at data analysis and an effective communicator with a bias for action
• Strong business sense and logical skills to balance decisions with intuition
• Ability to independently drive research and solutions from inception through to completion and production deployment
• Capable of working closely with business and product teams to ensure data analyses line up with business initiatives and are of high quality
• Experience querying data from sources like S3, Hadoop, Hive; working with Petabytes of data
• Deep experience with both relational and non-relational data systems such as Teradata, SQL Server, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, XML, JSON, Flat files
• Experience working with visualization tools; particularly Tableau or Looker
• Experience with Booking or Commerce Data big plus!
• Knowledge about applicable data privacy practices and laws around critical, personal, and secure information
