Lead Data Scientist

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in Wunderman Thompson Artificial Intelligence Science team, part of the Wunderman Thompson Data division. We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to lead a team of machine learning and fullstack engineers who ideate, build, and productionise AI models for multiple research applications in marketing. The Lead Data Scientist will lead a small team of data scientists and fullstack engineers and expanding it. You'll lead client and internal stakeholder conversations and help build backend and machine learning pipelines. You will generate ideas for projects, lead initiatives and serve as a role model for a small team of talented engineers.

Your team will work with text data, most often from social media / reviews / articles and perform advanced NLP. You will be proactive and use your experience to understand the need of the business and propose new ideas for products in the AI space to fill the gap. You will implement new innovative solutions and support the team in promoting the products we build. Not one day in Wunderman Thompson is the same and you will be exposed to a very wide variety of exciting projects.

The role sits within the Wunderman Thompson's AI Science team which is focused on providing artificial intelligence solutions for clients including Microsoft, Dell, GSK, and EY. The team build end-to-end software with Machine Learning at its heart in the Google and Azure's clouds. We support some of the most exciting technological developments in the company and industry.

What you'll be doing

• Manage a team of 3+ ML engineers, data scientists & fullstack python developers

• Take full ownership of projects within AI & Smart Automation space

• Search for public data sources and contribute with ideas to build new products to improve our ways of working and that of our clients

• Research new methodologies, propose innovative solutions and deploy models in the cloud

• Build cutting-edge artificial intelligence production-level software, including machine learning operations (MLOps) pipelines and machine learning systems design

• Consult other teams and clients on the areas mentioned above

• Be exposed to multiple diverse projects, clients and challenges

Who we're looking for

Required

• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement & product/project management skills

• Vast experience working using ML, statistics, and/or modelling of unstructured data using a scripting language

• Experience with NLP (must have) and/or Image analysis

• Strong programming skills in Python writing production-ready, well-structured and commented code

• Experience working collaboratively with other developers using version control

Desirable

• Experience managing teams

• Experience with AGILE

• Experience with finetuning NLP models (e.g. BERT)

• Experience deploying API services and applications in Cloud platform (GCP preferred)

• Exposure to revenue-oriented AI product development

• Experience with MLOps and DevOps frameworks are a plus (e.g. Docker, IaC, StackDriver, GitHub actions)

• Experience with Big Data Engineering is a plus (e.g. Apache Beam, Spark, Airflow, NoSQL, SQL)

• Experience working with Marketing datasets
