Data Engineer

This position works as part of a critical Enterprise Data Engineering team and has primary responsibility of building Enterprise class Data Integration solutions, a next Generation Data Platform and other critical data engineering capabilities. This position is responsible for defining best practices around enterprise class data platforms and developing core data engineering capabilities. This role will require extensive contact with all management levels and other internal customers and is required to identify, research, analyze and resolve complex information technology issues. The Data Engineer works in a team of Data Engineers that are responsible for building solutions which are flexible, performant and scalable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the development of a next gen Data Platform.
• Collaborates with multiple teams, understands the overall enterprise Data Architecture and executes on delivering a Next Gen Data Warehouse and other critical Data Engineering capabilities.
• Leads projects to successful completion as defined by predetermined project success criteria including those established by the business, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Focus on designing and developing highly scalable, efficient and reliable data infrastructure to scale and compute to meet business objectives.
• Drives IT solutions to ensure they meet the business needs balanced with a pragmatic and integrated approach to the design of technical solutions.
• Remains up to date on key technology, business and industry trends.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related degree and five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience or combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience with a breadth of Data Integration tools, Databases, Big Data Platforms, Cloud based data platforms and Data Streaming technologies.
• Strong understanding of Data Architecture and most importantly deep understanding of the overall Data in an enterprise and ability to understand Data in the context of business goals .
• Expert/Advanced level experience with ETL technologies, Data Streaming using integration patterns like Kafka, Spark Streaming.
• Experience with building a Data Platform to support a Data Science team/platform.
• Experience in building from the ground up a modern next generation data warehouse platform.
• Expert level experience with Oracle as a Database Platform.
• Strong in SQL, PLSQL optimization and development .
• Experience or understanding of programming languages like Python, Java, R , Shell , Perl etc.
• Experience with AWS based Data Platforms is preferred.
• Financial Services experience highly preferred.
• Experience in the enterprise implementation, leadership experience, strategic planning, strong business acumen.
