The Position
Data Engineer

Global Customer Support (GCS), is the global organization responsible for technical services in the Diagnostics Division. GCS supports the service organizations of the Roche affiliates and the Lifecycle-Teams.

GCS is also making sure that service requirements- & concepts are considered in the product development process to ensure that the design of instrument and software products facilitates effective and efficient service, maintenance and customer support processes.

Currently, approximately 7,500 Service employees work around the world for world class Customer Service. Roche Diagnostics is ranked number one in overall Customer Service satisfaction.

As a Data Engineer, you will understand and aid in the implementation of database requirements, analyze performance, and troubleshoot any existing issues; as well as perform IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs in support of data science projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc

  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.

  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs

  • Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our SIQ database.

  • Use data to discover tasks that can be automated and find hidden patterns

  • Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality including the source systems

  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems and with IT and database colleagues to implement data base requirements

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree (master preferred) in Data Science, IT, Economics, Applied Math or equivalent.

  • You are proficient in English (Excellent verbal and written communication skills).

  • You have approx. 4-5 years of working experience in a Data Analyst or Data Warehousing position.

  • Ability to translate data analytics in actionable results for the senior management

  • You are self-motivated, proactive, taking initiative and going beyond call of duty

  • You have exceptional problem-solving skills and you are a good team player

  • You have the ability to work comfortably in a cross-functional setting and with business senior executives

  • You have experience working with SQL and Python
