If so, we are seeking Data Scientist to join our team in Curitiba, Brazil!

Who We Are
Join the BI & Advanced Analytics team in Volvo Trucks Latin America and participate in the transformation journey to build a data-driven company.
This unit was recently created to support the Data Driven journey of all areas of Volvo Trucks as Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Services, Finance, S&OP, etc.

In this position you will use Data Science to predict customer behavior, improve forecast accuracy, sales and operation plans, enable new services and business through data.

What You Will be Doing
You will be part of the BI & Advanced Analytics team. Your creative thinking and problem-solving skills will contribute to solving some complex challenges in the areas of data mining and optimization. You will be actively finding new ways to decrease costs, increase revenues, improve accuracy of our forecasts and production plans and improve Uptime for our customers.

You will be responsible for:
  • All steps of an analytics assignment, from data & business value exploration, data structuring, modeling, problem solving & recommendation. You will be able to deliver all steps independently, but also work closely in projects together with colleagues in other countries.
  • Develop complex models and algorithms that inspire innovation and performance throughout the organization. Conduct advanced analytics to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and measure performance. Create value-added intelligence from the operational point of view taking advantage of VPS tools and mindset to help diagnose performance shifts from sales & service organization.
  • Generation and sharing of findings and standardized reports connected to strategic and operational objectives.
  • You will contribute with technical insight to the strategy & roadmap for the analytics area.
  • Networking, relationship building and collaborating with our user groups and stakeholders, to assure we are on top of their challenges and are solving the most needed requirements first.

You are person with a passion for Analytic and Data Science. You are a team player with eagerness to try and develop through collaboration, co-operation, and sharing insights, solutions, and ideas. You thrive in using data science to accelerate data drive design, validation and problem solving.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent minimum required.
  • Solid experience with relevant technical tools, SQL, Python, R, Azure Analytics Cloud, Databricks, Jupiter Notebook, Power BI and Apache Spark.
  • Exposure to data science projects with experience in problem definition, data preparation modeling, implementation and A/B tests.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, Neural Networks, Time series, anomaly detection including but not limited to: K-means, Random forest, Gradient boosting (XGBoost)

Preferred qualifications (or willingness to learn!)
  • Experience with open-source tools
  • Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and HDFS
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent
  • Fluent in English
  • Spanish is a plus
