Job description

Kramp Hub creates solutions that aim at giving the AgTech industry a push forward when it comes to competing with technology.

We’re building a multi-tenant microservice platform, serving thousands of users and generating a turnover of one billion euros per year. The product is stable and allows us to focus our time on tackling new technical challenges rather than support.

Kramp Hub ensures a good life/work balance providing you with the freedom to plan your 40-hours work week and keeping in mind that software development is a team game. Our everyday focus is to provide a healthy and inspirational environment, which enables our teammates to grow and learn day by day.

We opted for a hybrid way of working, the teams meet for 2-3 days at the office, while the rest is work from home.

Facts about us:

  • We use state-of-the-art technologies without legacy systems dragging the team down.
  • Our platform consists of about 150 components, is serving thousands of concurrent users and generates a turnover of a billion Euros per year.
  • We have no on-premise hardware, everything is deployed in a cloud-native manner in GCP.
  • We deliver everything via mature, declarative CI/CD pipelines.
  • Our tech stack: Java, Go, GCP, Docker, Spring Boot and React, Node.js, Next.js, and REST/GraphQL.
  • We have multiple development domain teams with about 40 engineers in total split into the following teams - 5 Back End, Data, 3 Front End, and Mobile. Every team is working on different domains of the platform and doing a full-development cycle.
  • Every team has a Product Owner and around 4 developers.
  • Everyone is invited to take part in making architectural decisions.
  • We follow the approach: “You build it, you own it, you love it”.

Several cool things we already did with data in other teams:

  • An image recognition solution for the app, based on state-of-the-art deep learning models.
  • Data-driven customer segmentation using both statistical models and unsupervised ML algorithms.
  • Automated search relevance improvements derived from historical click data about customer interactions with search.
  • Forecasting of demand based on historical order data.

The mission of the Data Scientist role is to solve business problems by providing actionable insights from data, using machine learning and statistical techniques.

You’ll be working in the Product Findability domain, where multiple teams are responsible for improving the customers’ search experience on our platform. Our teams for example work on the search engine, the navigation structure, and the onboarding of product data and classifications.

On our B2B e-commerce platform, the main job-to-be-done for our customers is finding the exact products they need to run their own business. Via our platform sellers offer products to customers in 20+ countries in 18 different languages. Improving product findability is the highest priority topic for our organization at the moment. So if you join our team, you will get to work on one of the key strategic initiatives for our company which directly impacts the lives of our customers.

We have only scratched the surface in understanding the needs of our customers. We need your help to truly understand our customers' behavior, the problems they face and how we can best solve them.

When improving product findability, we look for scalable, data-driven solutions. There are many opportunities to use our available data to help customers find the product they need. This is where you as a data scientist can make a big impact on our customers and for our business.

Things that will keep you busy if you join our data team as a Data Scientist:

  • Create / Improve metrics and dashboards for tracking results of A/B tests and create insights using automated test procedures.
  • Create / Improve metrics and dashboard (Google Data Studio) for tracking Search improvements.
  • Data Quality analysis, with the goal of finding possible improvement areas for search.
  • Analysis of the performance of features such as 'Autocomplete functionality search' or 'Spellcheck suggestions'. Come up with possible improvements based on usage data.
  • Identify possibilities for scalable search optimization based on customer search behavior.
  • Categorization of search queries; what type of search queries exist, how they differ, advice on how to optimize each of them, use in dashboards.
  • Analyze customer search patterns, and identify differences in behavior for customer segments. Come up with scalable improvements based on these findings in our platform services.
  • Support analysts from our tenants in using data sets to build their own dashboards (in Tableau or Google Data Studio/Looker Studio).

Skillset you’d be bringing to the table:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a Data Scientist (or a mix of Data Scientist and Data Analyst).
  • You can proactively solve problems based on smart use of available data and extract insights from data to improve search.

Hard skills:

  • Machine learning
  • Python
  • SQL
  • Version control
  • Writing decent code (readable and maintainable)
  • Data visualization/dashboarding (Data studio/Looker/Tableau)
  • Cloud experience

Nice to have:

  • You have experience with search/relevance optimization and/or NLP.
  • You previously worked with relevance engineering.
  • Java
  • GCP
  • BigQuery
  • Vertex AI
  • Experience with machine learning in production

What we can offer:

  • Startup environment with a financial backbone of a corporate group we are a part of (Kramp Group).
  • A mature management team that has a clear vision of the company's development and specified goals.
  • Flat hierarchy and a transparent environment where your feedback is always welcome.
  • Guilds where you can improve at what interests you (for example infrastructure guild, code quality guild, etc).
  • International crowd (29+ nationalities) with different backgrounds and knowledge to learn from.
  • Home office setup - we will equip your home with what is needed to work comfortably.
  • Personal and professional development - we find constant learning pretty important, so we will help you out with your initiatives to keep the learning curve steep.
  • Unlimited holidays with a fair use policy.
  • Dutch lessons for you and your partner (if you are interested in learning it).
  • Life/work balance to ensure that you’re happy with what you’re doing, you have all the resources you need and have energy for other parts of your life apart from work.
  • Mental health support via the Open Up platform.

N.B. External recruiters/agencies we'd appreciate it if you'd let us reach out to you if we need help. At the moment, this is not the case :)

Please let the company know that you found this position on this Job Board as a way to support us, so we can keep posting cool jobs.
