We are seeking highly motivated data scientist who likes to combine OR+ML to join SITA Center of Excellence in Data Science & AI team in Montreal We are looking for people who have a passion for analyzing and uncovering digital insights from large, complex streams of data derived from the worlds most advanced aerospace, telecommunication, aviation environment and macroeconomic systems.
As a Data Scientist (Machine Learning/ Operation Research ) Expert, you will work on the research, development, and implementation of complex operational research (OR) machine learning models to predict rare events disruptions in airports aerospace and flight movements and optimize On-Time Performance and Resource allocation.
This position will provide the unique opportunity to operate in a start-up-like environment within a Best place to work and Air transportation telecommunication service provider leader. Together we aim to achieve new levels of productivity by changing the way we work and identifying new sources of growth for our customers.
- Develop models and algorithms that will improve OTP (on time performance), predict and optimize disruption and situational awareness.
- Predict aircraft movements passenger behavior and baggage operations.
- Develop ML; OR (Operation Research), Model for risk assessment, predictive maintenance and flight departure and arrivals
- Participate in early stage R&D work to further advance the ML (machine learning) platform
- Collaborate with software development to implement and deploy newly developed technologies and algorithms
- Work with the Sr. Lead OR, portfolio directors and other stakeholders to identify study requirements and develop relevant OR technical approaches
- Develop new OR products and solutions to support passenger experience airlines airports and aircraft operations optimization
- Manage and contribute to the development and execution of OR study plans
- Develop prototype mathematical and simulation models (e.g. discrete event simulation)
- Interact with OR faculty in universities and reads journals and technical papers to ensure awareness of current research work
- Work with business units and lead data scientists to implement real-world critical use cases on the platform
- Build scripts to automate, clean, transform, cross-reference and merge large sources of data utilizing Python SPARK PYSPARK, JAVA
- Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership in delivering for our customer and air transportation industry
- Mathematical principles to develop deterministic, stochastic, or rule-based models of systems or networks
- Experience with mathematical programming solvers in a professional/work setting (e.g. GUROBI, CPLEX, Xpress, LocalSolver, GAMS)
- Knowledge of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) modeling software (e.g. AnyLogic, Simio, FlexSim or Arena), and DES simulation engine library
- Strong programming skills of 2 of the following: Java, Python, C/C++, C#, R and/or MATLAB
- Deep knowledge of machine learning, statistics, optimization or related field
- Experience with industrial/commercial applications of data science including, supply chain optimization, supply chain optimization, airport operations or airlines operations and disruptions management is a significant plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to well work in cross functional teams
- Work experience in programming, data science, machine learning
- Motivated self-starter with a strong enthusiasm to learn
- Results-oriented with strong communication and customer focus
- Ability to deal well with ambiguous and undefined problems
- Candidates for this role should possess a master’s degree or PhD degree in STEM relevant experience in data science.
