Build something meaningful – from scratch.
We need a Data Scientist who has the following flowing through their veins:
Curiosity. Innovation. Passion. Desire to make an impact.
An Insuretech startup, looking for key members with the ambition to build a company.
We are enabling a culture that does the right things for the right reasons so that we will develop meaningful, helpful, and engaged relationships that earn trust over a lifetime from our employees to our customers. We will emerge as a disruptor in the marketplace by prioritizing our customers’ needs and financial well-being above all else to provide them with peace of mind when planning for life’s most significant decisions.
What You will Do:
- Implement, refine and improve our comprehensive suite of metrics, analyses, tools and dashboards.
- Democratize data access through our data platform and deliver outcome driven use cases. (Example: end to end view of customer funnel within our BI tool.)
- Develop and deploy machine learning methods - initially focused on our customer experience. (Example: data about lifestyle, age, and other application specific data used to tailor a policy to match the needs of the insured)
- Collaborate with partners to oversee data governance and monitor data quality.
- Over time, apply principled methods to quantitative insurance challenges in areas such as estimating customer lifetime value, pricing and reserving, etc.
What You’ll Bring:
- Passion for data and technology.
- Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databases and AWS cloud platform.
- Experience with BI tools. (Qlik, Tableau)
- You have 2+ years working as a data scientist – preferably within a start-up environment.
- You have an MSc+ in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistic, Analytics, or equivalent quantitative degree.
- Ability to present complex technical information in a clear, confident and concise manner to diverse audiences.
- You are comfortable with a flat structure and a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams under tight deadlines.
- A team player and self-motivated.
- Balanced Skepticism. You continuously approach the work with a belief that data can solve every problem and your experience tells you that you may not know whether data can support the question being asked, but you’ll find out.
- You know real world data is messy. Your experience has shown that cleaning and prepping data takes a lot of time. You are comfortable moving on the data you have at the moment while continuously checking, improving, and applying the new data you discover.
- Hunger to learn and improve. Tools keep getting better. And because you’re curious and consistently scoping the field for new, more effective tools, you’re willing to give up a now-inefficient tool for a better one.
- You LOVE to complete work with a sense of urgency.
