Machine Learning Engineer
We are looking for a full-time Machine Learning Engineer with a good attitude, good English skills and Natural Language Processing experience to help us assist students around the world.
We are an education company that helps students through our online classroom and writing feedback service. We work with thousands of students every day using our technology and thousands of subject specialists.
As our first Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll focus on working on our nascent Machine Learning project that has been in development in collaboration with Data61. By utilising your experience in Natural Language Processing you will lead the development of the ML model to improve the feedback our specialists provide to students on their written work. Your strong focus on data analysis will also lead to continuous improvement in the capabilities and effectiveness of the solution.
You will be supported by a team of developers working on our online learning platform who are both eager to help where they can and learn what they don’t yet know. We are heavy users of automated tests written with RSpec, Capybara, Selenium and PhantomJS that are run through our continuous integration system before being deployed, so you know that we care about quality and uptime.
When developing solutions, you’ll follow a pull request based workflow making sure each change is reviewed before going out into the world. Slack, Google Meet, Confluence and Jira are all heavily used for collaboration within the company.
We connect over 1.3 millions students across three continents to the best and brightest minds, so they can get help exactly when it's needed most. This is all done through our own awesome technology, accreditation, and academic integrity standards.
Together with our education partners across Asia-Pacific, the UK, and Canada - Universities, Schools, Private Providers, and Government - we ensure that in an age of online education, internationalisation, and mobilisation, every student can get the personal study support they need, anytime, anywhere.
Why? Because everyone should have individualised help when it’s needed, to improve life chances; the chance for more confidence, a better grade, a better job, or the chance to change the world for others.
- 3 years experience as a developer in a team
- Proven experience with machine learning and data analysis
- Previous work with Natural Language Processing
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Excellent English skills
