The Data Platform Team at Mentimeter builds data products and platform assets that influence the future path of the company. The team is part of the larger Data and Analytics organization which consists of other embedded and central teams of data scientists, analysts and insight people. Here, you’ll be working on a data ecosystem that serves all of the departments (Product, Marketing, Sales and Finance) with both data as well as infrastructure. You will have a direct impact on the future of Mentimeter’s business and product decisions.
As a Data Engineer, you will be involved in building data pipelines, in a reliable, secure and scalable way, to tackle business and technical use cases. We use Heroku and AWS with technologies such as Postgres, Redshift, ECS, Prefect, dbt, Looker, Python, TypeScript and Terraform. Today, your team consists of a lead, three data engineers and three analytics engineers.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain batch and stream data pipelines between operational and analytical databases as well as third party systems.
- Collaborate with product developers, analytics engineers and data scientists to deliver new data features within the data warehouse or other systems.
- Collaborate with analytics engineers to validate and ensure high data quality.
- Maintain a performant data warehouse and scale it as needed.
We believe you have:
- A numerate degree and/or previous experience working as a data engineer, data heavy backend developer or similar.
- Experience of software engineering and programming (Python, SQL, Java, Scala) in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scalability, quality) of systems.
- Comfortable communicating with a diverse set of technical and business stakeholders in English, especially written (daily work is carried out in English and the Mentimeter team currently boasts 50+ different nationalities).
It is beneficial if you have:
- Experience with stream processing and real time systems
- Experience with ML engineering
- Professional experience working in an agile environment
