  • Purpose of Job
      The purpose of this role is to support the transition in the healthcare industry from traditional fee-for-service reimbursement to value-based care initiatives. This will require responsibility for modeling complex business problems, discovering business insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, data mining and visualization techniques. In addition to advanced analytics skills, this role must also be proficient at integrating and analyzing large, varied datasets from multiple sources including the Electronic Medical Record and claims data from payer sources, architecting specialized databases and computing environments, and communicating these results to clinical leadership.
  • Job Requirements
      Education
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or a scientific field related to healthcare required.
      • Master's Degree is preferred.
      • Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education requirements.

      Experience
      • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in statistics and data science required.
      • Demonstrated experience in healthcare preferred, to include knowledge of healthcare analytics, healthcare mandatory reporting, financial analysis and managed care reimbursement methodology.

      Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Knowledge in data analytics and software, to include SQL, 'R', or similar languages.
      • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with flexibility to meet changing demands.
      • Knowledge of relational databases and data warehouses.
      • Ability to acquire, organize, and synthesize quantitative data to identify key findings for clinical and business audiences.
      • Ability to use MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and other programs to create reports.
      • Skilled in project management and process improvement methodology.
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and exemplary customer service skills.
      • Ability to think critically about the datasets and pull actionable opportunity for clinical and business audiences.

      Essential Functions I

      • Quality and Financial Analytics/Reporting
        • Finance and quality metrics via scorecards and dashboards to monitor strategic initiatives based on government and commercial payment programs.
        • Utilize forecasting and predictive modeling for clinical and operational data to drive value and avoid penalties.
        • Analyzes data for anomalies, outliers, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Use statistical techniques to determine significance and relevance.
        • Ability to acquire, organize, and synthesize quantitative data to identify key findings for clinical and business audiences by evaluating market and business trends through the use of business intelligence
        • Present findings in clear, concise formats using graphics, tables, and high level summarization.
        • Collect and documents requirements from requestors to ensure appropriate creation of reports and analysis. Use peer review process and end-user consultation to reduce errors and rework.
        • Ensure integrity of data for completeness, accuracy through continuous review and communication with other quality department staff and clinical areas as needed.
        • Assist staff and leadership with data collection practices; to include initiating, planning, monitoring, and controlling quality improvement projects.
        • Participate in planning initiatives to align data management resource allocation with system strategic goals.
        • Responsible for timely completion of projects, including timeline development and maintenance.
      • Quality Database Oversight
        • Responsible for database integrity, utilization, and contracts.
        • Complete orientation and training for each assigned database.
        • Assist with Accountable Care Organization relevant database, in partnership with Nebraska Health Network.
        • Assist population health database opportunities with Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII) and other partners to integrate with existing MHS data systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the health system.

      Essential Functions II

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
