Overview: Senior Data Scientist
Position can be done Remote (Work from Home).
The Senior Data Scientist Finance, direction of the Finance Data Science Manager, works with a team of highly qualified physicians, business analysts, application developers, and senior service line leadership in supporting a robust data science strategy and implementation for Mercy. The Senior Data Scientist - Finance will be responsible for implementing the extraction and compilation of data to perform creative, high-quality, and state-of-the-art analyses and data visualizations to give insight into relevant key performance indicators at Mercy. The Senior Data Scientist will also be expected to be able to assist/support any needs brought forth by any of the other Data Scientist Finance coworkers.
Mercy has a robust data infrastructure which integrates clinical, operational, and financial transactions data with an increasing capability to integrate external data sources. This position will be part of a revolution in the way Mercy continuously measures, assesses, and improves performance objectives and ensures that these objectives are achieved.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role in academia or industry or PhDDemonstrated analytical mindset with the desire to use data daily to help support data driven solutions to complex healthcare issues.
- Required Education: Degree required in an area such as: Public Health, Health Care Research, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Economic, Finance, Business Analytics, or related field.
- Other: Epic Clarity Certification required.
- Ability to work under direction and autonomously on multiple projects concurrently.Ability to create SQL queries that efficiently and effectively query the Clarity database to meet the needs of our end users.A genuine interest in health care cost efficiency improvement.Possess strong organizational skills and orientation toward detail.Experience:Have a knowledge of electronic medical record data, clinical data, claims data, and financial data.A proven effective analytic technique with the ability to train others.Proficient in data visualization using such industry tools such as Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI.Display a proficient understanding of design and scientific standards for communication of data.Utilize analytic skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.Preferred Qualifications:Excellent understanding of medical record data and/or claims data.Expertise in advanced analytic techniques.1+ years of SQL experience writing queries in a production environment.1+ years of Qlikview experience developing/maintaining dashboards.
