We are strengthening our Digital R&D department and are looking for an Operational Expert to join our journey towards DataOps and MlOps for R&D analytics in the cloud.

The team for you to join
You will be part of Digital R&D, which is a central unit in Chr. Hansen Research & Development (R&D) leading the digital agenda in R&D. We are at the very heart of the digital transformation that will let us drive speed in innovation. The overall aim is to enable scalable science in Chr. Hansen through digital solutions.

We support the business with commercial as well as in-house built solutions, our scope span from securing a solid IT infrastructure to advanced analytics unleashing the full value of our science data.

We are a dynamic and diverse team of eleven people with different backgrounds within IT and Life Science who enjoy what we do. A combination of curiosity and an open and informal approach have led to great successes in establishing digital solutions. We always work in close collaboration with IT, other internal digitalization teams and the business.

What would your role look like?
As an Operational Expert in Digital R&D, you will manage operations of components and solutions supporting the data analytics agenda in R&D. Your role is to actively take part in and lead the maintenance and troubleshooting of our new Science Data Platform. This platform plays a central role in making key scientific data easily reliable, browsable and analyzable. The platform is based on the new Data Lakehouse platform architecture and still under development, why you will join the team at a very exciting and defining moment.

You will:

  • Ensure uptime and efficiency of our data platform in the cloud by monitoring; the state of data pipelines, data science applications in staging and production, component health (CPU utilization, storage needs etc.), spending and budget alerts in the cloud
  • Be responsible for reacting to alerts and do 1st level handling, e.g. reruns and communicate to affected end-users. Tougher problems we always work out as a team
  • Own and manage the deployments and processes of solution code to production
  • Manage the IDEs in our data science toolbox in production, e.g. processes for installing and upgrading packages and upgrading versions
  • Perform cost analysis and cost reporting, secure platform security initiatives are up to date - in close collaboration with Global IT- and ensure our Data Contracts are updated before new data are deployed to production
  • Handle 1st level support on user facing solutions in production - access requests, performance problems etc.
  • Drive initiatives to improve and innovate our operational setup - other tools, processes, etc.
  • As the number of solutions on our platform grow and more operational resources are needed potentially, you will play an active role in onboarding/training others
  • Until the current and primary toolbox for data science is migrated to the cloud, you assist in operating the on prem setup

Who are we looking for?
In this position you need to have:

  • A very good understanding and experience with the processes and tasks in IT lifecycle management - a degree in IT or equivalent experience
  • Solid knowledge of, and desire to work with log files of components for, e.g., reporting on user activity, auditing activity, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in working with SQL-queries
  • Experience in working with DevOps and CI/CD workflows
  • Experience in working on Azure, mainly with PaaS – but also some IaaS. Further, it is seen as an advantage if you have hands on experience with the following Azure related tools: Azure Synapse Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Cost, Azure DevOps, and Visual Studio Professional, and an understanding of the concept and components in a Data Lakehouse; Databricks, Delta/Data Lake and Synapse
  • Experience in working with data pipelines and manage dependencies (DataOps) as well as Machine Learning deployments and monitoring (MlOps), is seen as a significant advantage
  • Understanding of Linux and management of Linux servers is seen as an advantage. Alternatively, you would find it exciting to evolve in this area
  • Ability to condense and communicate your insights effectively to nearest colleagues and managers
  • Understanding of what working Agile entails, without being fanatic about the term

You are smart, curious, a quick learner and enjoy working in an informal atmosphere.
