Data Scientist (Group Internal Audit)

Key Roles & Responsibilities

In these roles, you will play a key internal client-facing role in the development of solutions using advanced analytics to tackle diverse challenges mainly, but not limited to, related to Sembcorp’s Group Integrated Audit (GIA) and Governance. You will also work with counterparts in Group Digital in other projects to develop and apply cutting-edge ML and AI algorithms to help derive insights and shape business strategies.

The individual is expected to:

• Translate problems into a solvable solution architecture using advanced analytics/ML/AI techniques
• Responsible for implementing fully functional analytics-based/ML/AI/optimization solutions that meet GIA/Governance/business requirements
• Exhibit deep and hands-on knowledge in advanced analytics, including knowing how to transform complex data into easily understandable action items
• Collect, analyze, screen and manipulate different exogenous/ related data sets required for modelling and support all decision-making process
• Conduct testing / validation of Machine Learning models, model tuning and parameter optimization
• Work closely with stakeholders in automating and building appropriate visualizations of model outputs that help in making the right decisions
• Exhibit interpersonal /communication skills to communicate effectively

Key Skills, Competencies & Behaviours

• Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or other related fields
• At least 5 years of experience formulating and solving problems using either open source and/or commercial tools e.g. Cplex, Gurobi, etc
• Having a basic understanding of how the commodities and energy markets operate is a plus
• Experience in implementing scalable solutions using R/Python/Scala/Spark/Hadoop on batch & real-time data and deploying on Cloud platforms using different PAAS services
• Experience in identifying, accessing and data handling various data sources using a wide variety of tools (API/SQL/Web Scrapping, etc.)
• Experience of developing and embedding analytical solutions as part of broader IT and business processes
• Demonstrable experience in delivering end-to-end data science projects collaborating directly with both technical and business stakeholders
• Experience in formalizing business problems as machine learning solutions and translating into actionable insights and foresights
• Team player with good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Able to present complex subjects clearly and coherently to non-domain experts
