Barco has a hybrid data & analytics landscape to support on one hand its business centric end-to-end processes, and on the other hand its Barco software product applications. We operate in 3 core markets with state-of-the-art solutions: Enterprise (from meeting rooms to control rooms), Healthcare (from the radiology department to the operation room), and Entertainment (from movie theaters to live events). All with specific data needs.
Function
We are looking for a Data Engineer who will translate functional requirements into data solutions, to grow and run the business with data. You will be part of the data team in Kortrijk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and implement data solutions in a hybrid landscape
- You collaborate within an international team on new requirements along agile methodology :
- You take up the design requirements, estimate and detail these further.
- You develop and perform unit and integration testing
- You support user acceptance test work and deploy to production
- You focus mainly on the Azure Cloud Data Integration Hub which is part of the global hybrid Barco landscape combining front end, back end business process application platforms and as well business unit product data platforms.
- You collaborate with business users on data discovery, reporting, dashboarding, data science, AI, ML, data cleansing issues,…
2. Support & maintain the data platforms & methodology
- You are part of the global data team, which delivers world wide support to the business :
- You work in close collaboration with the back end BI team, and the data analysts from the business units.
- You maintain data information standards, data rules, (meta)data vocabulary
- You support business users
- You investigate problems, search for root cause and structural solutions
- You are eager to analyze and improve ETL batch processes, live synchronization
Your profile
- You have a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s with at least 5 years experience in software science, data science, analytics or similar relevant area
- You use logical and analytical thinking to produce creative and innovative database solutions.
- Data engineering – you are an expert in everything data related. You know exactly how data is collected, analyzed, and delivered. You are familiar with both the technical and user-facing sides of databases
- You have good knowledge of
- Data modelling – datastore – data flows
- Data concepts – data object relationships – data structure
- Data governance – data literacy
- Reporting technologies – frameworks
- You are familiar with common scripting languages
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform is a strong plus
- Knowledge of integrations with SAP or Salesforce backend is a plus
- You feel comfortable working in a cross-functional, international and matrix organisation
- You demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
- Change management skills - you can align stakeholders from different viewpoints and to drive toward common standards
- You have good communication skills, good knowledge of spoken and written English
- You can easily integrate into a (virtual) team, and work autonomously
