Data Analyst, International Portfolio Management

Role Description
QuadReal is looking for a high calibre candidate to fill the role of Data Analyst, International Portfolio Management (“Analyst”). This position will report to the Associate, International Portfolio Management. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in Data Science who is looking to develop their career in an entrepreneurial and high-energy environment.
This position will play a pivotal role in the buildout of QuadReal's International data analytics platform. As the team grows, this individual will operate as a thought leader in the creation of an analytics and performance measurement framework to increase scale and improve operational efficiency of the global portfolio management and International real estate teams. The Analyst should have an interest in applying research and technology to understand markets, as well as in developing portfolio systems from the ground-up.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with other teams (IT, Research, Investments, Asset Management, Valuations and Finance) to automate data collection and facilitate data-driven decision making, playing a key role in the ongoing development and enhancement of the 'Total Portfolio Management framework
Contribute to portfolio management modelling including 'what-if' scenario analysis, portfolio construction modelling, performance measurement & attribution, liquidity, and stress testing
Work with a variety of structured datasets (sourcing, cleaning, visualization, and predictive modelling); present your results to various stakeholders and gather feedback for improvement
Assist in the preparation of regular reporting for senior management, the Board of Directors and BCI; look to leverage technology to automate these processes in a timely manner
Propose original ideas within a global portfolio management context, based on personal interests or prior experience; gain exposure to a variety of investment strategies including direct real estate investments, fund investments and public real estate investments
Design systems to automate the data collection and data load process for the International Real Estate team; aim to create reliable data to drive insight and decision-making for senior management
Investigate and analyze opportunities to help improve business efficiencies and maximize use of QuadReal's enterprise applications
Work closely with IT and Finance to deliver best-in-class system implementation rollouts, upgrades, and process improvements
Education and Qualifications
Education – University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field) OR a background in Economics, Finance or a related business field. CFA or similar a plus
Analytical / Programming Skills – Intermediate knowledge of Python (Pandas, Matplotlib, Numpy); SQL proficiency; advanced knowledge of VBA in Excel (PowerQuery a plus); direct experience designing and creating data visualizations (e.g. PowerBI); experience with Yardi or a similar real estate management system is a plus
Experience – 3+ years of analytics development/data visualization, statistical analysis and/ or database management. Knowledge of index construction methodologies/ understanding of smart beta overlays a plus
Organizational/Multi-Task Skills – Accurate and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; able to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction; able to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; able to handle competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas/ constant changes
