Using analytical excellence and statistical methods, you mine through data to identify opportunities for the business and our customers to operate more efficiently, from providing analytical insights to our Communication Providers to supporting our Network Engineers with analytical insights to optimise the way we service our customers.

As a Data Scientist, you do more than just crunch the numbers. You get the opportunity to have an impact on the whole of Service Delivery, such as UK Operations, Network Investment & Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer Services. You get to work with all our departments and our key Communication Providers to adjust our practices according to your findings. Identifying the problem is only half the job; you also get to figure out the solution.

We are currently on a journey to transform our business into a data centric organisation and you will be pivotal to this transformation.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Solve complex business issues through the development of analytic models, using multi-source data and strong descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics skills.
  • Implement Artificial Intelligence, including Machine learning tools to support business decisions.
  • Support business teams scaling models into low-touch solutions to provide optimal ROI from data science
  • Drive the exploration of data sources and analytic techniques to create new modelling approaches.
  • Work with large data sets to solve complex problems.
  • Apply statistical methods to develop analytic models.
  • Gather data and build data science and algorithmic solutions to address business problems requiring descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and / or prescriptive analytics.
  • Create experimentation to solve complex business problems and deliver predictions on future business outcomes in a repeatable and relevant way.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Proficient in the use of analytical, database, visualisation tools and modelling techniques.
  • Experience using big data frameworks – machine learning algorithms, tools and technologies.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Working knowledge using and scaling analytic products in the Cloud.
  • Expert knowledge in Python and/or R, plus SQL/HQL with working knowledge of Qlik.
