Data Engineer

Position Description

We are looking for a Data Engineer with proven hands-on experience leading the architecture, design, and development of highly available data management platforms and solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience and detailed knowledge of building and integrating transactional and analytical platforms to enable advanced analytics and statistical modeling. The role requires a good understanding of infrastructure and data access patterns. The individual will execute and support the design and deployment of data solutions necessary to support our growing data needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate cross-functional data-integration efforts upstream and downstream
• Detect data quality issues, identify their root causes, implement fixes, and design data audits to capture issues
• Using efficient programming processes design, develop, and implement advanced data pipelines that integrates data from disparate sources, making it available to users using a variety of ETL tools
• Write and refine code to ensure performance and reliability of data extraction and processing
• Use strong analytical skills and knowledge of the latest technology trends to deliver data solutions
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Communicate with all levels of stakeholders as appropriate, including product managers, application developers, business users
• Participate in requirements gathering sessions with product managers and technical staff to distill technical requirements from business requests
• Some of our technologies might include: Microsoft SQL Server, Python, and various data stores, as well as Azure cloud services
• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
• Support and work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment

Minimum Requirements

5 years of software development, programming, data analysis, or other related IT experience required

Critical Skills

• 3 years of experience using SSIS, Python, or similar tools
• Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
• Experience with modern data technologies (NoSQL, Columnar, Graph, etc)
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience performing root cause analysis on data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disparate datasets
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Team player with a drive and willingness to cooperate with colleagues in developing and disseminating intellectual capital
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

4-year degree in computer science or other related IT field of study, or equivalent professional work experience.
