WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will be a part of the Omnia Data Business, comprising multidisciplinary experts with strong industry & technology knowledge, who design, update and execute different proprietary assets such as surveys, benchmarks, databases, diagnostic tools, and simulation models.
We are seeking exceptional candidates with experience and passion to fill a Data Engineer position. Candidates should possess an entrepreneurial drive and have demonstrated experience in data architecture. This role would work closely with BCG Omnia leaders, product managers and development team for relevant products. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in building and maintaining complex data architecture.
The individual will be a key member of a product team charged with the development and implementation of a python, big data enabled platform. He / she will work closely with a Data Engineer Lead to create and evolve an intelligent data product ecosystem. The candidate must quickly and effectively team with user experience, product management and other digital product experts to innovate, problem solve and collaboratively execute to drive impact and results. Exceptional candidates will also show strong curiosity, going beyond the immediate requirements to understand the fundamental drivers of advantage and deliver accurate, well developed and tested models.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Engineering data pipelines (batch and real-time) that aids in creation of data-driven products
- Designing, developing and maintaining robust and scalable databases
- Working closely alongside Product Managers and Data Scientists to bring various datasets together and to cater for business intelligence and analytics use-cases
- Performing hands-on DevOps work to keep the Data platform / product secure and reliable
- Working with team members or stakeholders (e.g. Practice Area, case team members) to understand objectives and gather requirements
- Independently creating scripts and workflows to automate repeated data processing tasks and improve analytics platforms
- Creating tools for internal team use to simplify complex task flows with guidance from leads
- Ensuring quality control and testing of data engineering projects / solutions
- Identifying anomalies, inconsistencies in data sets and algorithms and flagging it to the relevant team / senior colleagues and / or fixing the bugs in the data workflows where applicable
- Embedding security and risk guidelines into every aspect of performed tasks
- Engaging in problem solving and support of data processes
- Contributing towards documentation (e.g. of data, proposals) to enhance overall work output
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
Education and experience:
- University degree with demonstrated high academic achievement, preferably in field of computer science or other data centric disciplines
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in the field of python, data analyses, reporting and business intelligence
- Experience and knowledge in Python – Pandas, Numpy, & Fl
- Experience and knowledge in Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark, Pyspark, & Kafka
- Proficient in Python
- Experience in data engineering or data architecture fields
- Proficient in building automated analytical systems utilizing large data sets
- Solid problem-solving orientation, ability to learn fast
- Accuracy, strong attention to detail and outstanding customer service orientation
