Fanbase is LIMGC's data and analytics platform that powers our strategic fan insights across the enterprise, leveraging cutting-edge analytics to unlock the next wave of growth in college sports. By aggregating data across ticketing, sponsorship, digital and social channels, commerce, and more, Fanbase helps Learfield IMG College and our school partners to better understand how fans engage with college athletics. Fanbase allows our teams and partners to realize stronger marketing efficiency and effectiveness, as well as to increase commercial opportunities through ticket / merchandise sales, development funding, etc.

As the Fanbase Lead Data Engineer, you will spearhead the execution of designing and developing all Fanbase related technology. The Fanbase team is looking for a candidate with in-depth experience of designing and implementing Azure data services including storage/Data lake, Data Bricks, data factory and SQL databases. The role will lead the design and implementation of an internally developed tech product using the above technology.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of knowledge in design, development and testing, with hands on Azure big data implementation experience. Additional experience within other technology areas, such as Event Hubs, stream analytics, AI modelling and Tableau would be beneficial, as well as experience in other cloud technology providers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).

As Lead Data Engineer, you will report to the Fanbase Product Manager. Additionally, you will work closely with the Senior VP of Corporate Strategy & Development and Managing Director of Fanbase and other members of the Strategy & Development team.


  • Serve as the lead data engineer for Fanbase and its products
  • Data architecture, design, development and implementation, using Azure technologies for large-scale Data solutions
  • Technical Authoring & Solution design for Data warehousing
  • Assist the Fanbase Product Manager build a team and transition development in-house from an outsourced provider

  • Both architectural and hands on, with the ability to specify and build
  • Knowledge of security best practices and industry standards and how to apply them within an Azure environment. (SOCS2 working knowledge a plus)
  • At least 5 years of experience of being the Technical lead of a development team using Agile delivery methodologies
  • Extensive experience in software development using Python, Pyspark and Pytest
  • Hands-on experience in building Azure infrastructure using Arm templates
  • In-depth experience of Cloud Release management, process automation, and source control (ideally utilizing Azure Devops)
  • Extensive experience in developing the following technologies:
  • Azure Storage Accounts/Data Lake Gen2
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure SQL Server
  • Azure Logic & Function apps
  • Azure Data Bricks or Spark clusters

Ideal Candidates also have:

  • Hands-on development experience of the following technologies:
    • Azure Event Hubs or Kafka or Lamda
    • Azure API management
    • Azure Machine Learning
  • Tableau Server and Desktop knowledge
  • Experience or knowledge of other Data technologies – such as Amazon Redshift, Google Big Query, Hadoop or other cloud based data service
  • Experience in Software development using any of the following - php, java, .net. c#
