Senior Data Scientist - Data Science Labs Team


Directly responsible to the Senior Engineering Manager (Data Science Labs Team) at Mimecast.


Key Responsibilities Include


  • Be accountable for the collection and exploitation of data at Mimecast for the provision of Threat Intelligence, ML, and Data Science capability at Mimecast.
  • Working closely with the SEM for Data Science Labs and Product Managers, build innovative new features and products to enhance email security for our customers, develop a more formalised efficacy testing regimen, develop processes for uprating our machine learning capabilities, and augment how we assess and talk about emerging threats.
  • Provide an ad hoc surge capability and collaborative engagement to remediate complex issues and other operations within both the Mimecast Labs team, and the wider Mimecast enterprise (and more broadly with the GTM and Support organisations) to help our stakeholders.
  • Work across a variety of disparate, internal teams (both geographically and in skillset), quickly establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders to improve the output of the team across Mimecast and move research into production.
  • Have the ability to design fault tolerant systems so the team can move fast, without negatively impacting our customers, owning the deployment pipeline from design, to implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Be trusted to attend key meetings with relevant stakeholders (including customers) and communicate the outcome of these meetings effectively with the Mimecast Labs, Engineering, and Product leadership, as necessary.
  • Be accountable for integrating the Data Science Lab’s ML models into the Mimecast ecosystem to optimise our platform for performance and scalability.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly in a loosely structured, rapidly changing work environment with a passion to stay on top of security trends, and to experiment with and learn new technologies.
  • Utilise Mimecast data to understand ongoing trends and patterns, conducting deep dives into the data, producing actionable recommendations.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years professional software engineering experience.
  • Evidenced software architecture and distributed systems experience.
  • AI / Machine learning / NLP experience in a production environment with a working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
