Technical
- Analyze and evaluate proposed business procedures or problems to define data modeling and data processing needs.
- Research, propose, and configure purchased 3rd party solutions.
- Stay abreast of technology trends and changes in the data operations and business intelligence services space you are responsible for.
- Write and maintain system documentation, definitions and aspects of data governance.
- Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
Project and Relationship Management
- Work with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff on implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.
- Propose, design and implement new solutions in line with project roadmap, enhancements and support/maintenance.
- Apply understanding of University and data reporting priorities when designing solutions and addressing the business’ needs.
- Implement consistent upgrade process such as change management, production control, etc. to ensure high availability of all reporting systems.
- Acts as a formal or informal leader of team(s) of professionals, both internal and external to the company, in modeling or maintaining data systems.
- Professionally handle confidential information.
- May have limited supervisory responsibilities.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related field desired.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in data analytics, and dimensional modeling.
Qualification Requirements
- Strong dimensional modeling and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft stack of technologies (e.g. SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL and DAX.
- Strong knowledge of software design methodologies and development cycles.
- Ability to develop and maintain Power BI dashboards.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications.
- Familiar with at least 1 modern programming language such as C# or Java or Python.
- Ability to be a contributing member to an agile team (e.g. Azure DevOps).
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to listen to customer needs and build rapport with external and internal clients.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in technology including the ability to read, interpret and apply technology from manuals and related documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during work.
- Understanding of client operations and systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel on work assignments nationally and internationally.
- Ability to translate client needs into highly technical specifications.
- Determine potential solutions and test them for technical and business compatibility.
- Develop project feasibility analyses.
- Adaptable and willing to take initiative.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to work additional hours during week and/or weekend, as required.
