Leader: Director, Portfolio Optimization & Modeling

**This is a 13-month temporary opportunity (mat leave coverage)**

As ATB's new Lead Data Scientist, you are responsible for supporting CFO portfolio priorities through quantitative modeling, predictive modeling and advanced analysis.

The position directly impacts the operations and revenue by conducting data analysis and research in order to generate insights that can be leveraged by the various departments of ATB Financial to achieve its strategic goals. This role will require the successful applicant to synthesize complex data using advanced analytics; designs and develops machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) algorithms.

You will find success based on your ability to:

• Make sense of complex data and translate that data into meaningful analysis
• Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences
• Research and analyze data to find deep relations within data
• Design and develop machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) algorithms
• Seek out new innovations in the space of AI/ML and bring these learnings back to the organization.Challenge the status quo and test out alternative methods and techniques
• Identify, assess and prioritize the Analytics & AI Modeling needs of partners across the enterprise
• Ability to deliver tangible value in increments.
• Strategic in supporting and completing projects with a strong degree of creativity and flexibility.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to remove barriers to delivery
• Balance team and individual responsibilities; Contribute to building a positive team spirit; Put success of team above own interests

Requirements

• Graduate degree or equivalent in statistics, computer Science, actuarial science or another discipline which makes heavy use of statistics and modeling.
• 2+ years of experience in quantitative modeling and advanced analytics.
• Strong competency for statistical programming language. Python and SQL are preferred.
• Solid understanding of advanced analytics (statistics, simulation, optimization, etc)
• Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
