Our client is seeking two Data Analyst/Modellers (1 x APS5/6 and 1 x EL1), for an immediate start. They will be joining a well regarded federal government department working on some of the most pressing issues in Australia today. The EL1 position would suit either a senior data analyst/modeller, or an EL1 who can oversee a small team of staff with technical skills.

APS5/ APS6 position duties:

• Conducting data analysis and research to support evidence-based policy development
• Contributing to the development and refinement of existing Departmental models
• Preparing a range of written materials to communicate findings from the analysis, modeling and research to a range of audiences
• Working closely with colleagues to understand the policy environment and ensuring that the analysis supports these efforts
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in relation to data analysis, modeling, costing, and research.

EL1 duties:

In addition to the above, EL1 duties expand to:

• Supervising a small team of staff with advanced technical skills
• Managing the delivery of work within the section
• Representing the Department in liaison with external stakeholders

Requirements for the APS5 / APS6 position

• Strong analytical and research skills
• Strong verbal and written skills in communicating findings from quantitative analysis to a wide range of audiences
• Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Take initiative and shape the direction of the work undertaken
• Manage competing priorities and deliver results within agreed timeframes
• Experience in Microsoft Excel and/or a programming language/visualisation tool such as R, SAS, Qlik, Tableau, etc.

Requirements for the EL1 position:

In addition to the above, EL1 capabilities expand to:

• Demonstrated experience in supervising a small team of staff and managing the delivery of work within the team.
